Hi all I’ve been busy over at Fiskars Craft blog….
Using two boarder punches at once
New uses for your stencils and Fiskars shape templates
Have fun!
Howdy! Here is this weeks sketch.
And the example:

I cut out some flowers from Prima papers and used some leaves from Prima.
I also put some real flowers onto the paper and crushed them by rolling over them to die parts of the paper. I also stamped some swirl stamps over top. I cut some shapes out of cardboard and the butterfly with the butterfly die and used the embossing folder over top of them.
Ok we end up with a few cards from Christmas…..
The commercial ones I keep in a draw for inspriation. The hand made ones I put into a folder I make especially for them.
Here is how you make this special folder for your hand made cards from friends….
You will need:
You will learn:
Instructions:
1. Take your cards and put them in order of biggest to smallest. This will determine the size of your cover.
2. Take your cardboard (I used the back of an art pad) and line up your largest greeting card to one end.

mark with a pencil about 12″ wider than card and the same on the other side.
Then cut the cardboard to size. Making the front and back covers the same size.

I found the Fiskars 12″ trimmer is great for going through cardboard because of its blade depth.
3. Trimm some cardstock 1/2″ to 1″ larger than the back and front covers.

I then trimed this piece of card stock in half again because I had only this small piece of cardstock and wanted it on the front and back covers.
4. Trim that piece of cardstock in half. Then Adhere to the cover pieces of cardboard making sure there is an inch or slightly less over hang as shown. Spreading the glue from the middle out to the edge of your cardstock will help have no glue sepage.
5. This is how to make neat corners…
With the bone folder fold over the longest edge of paper and adhere down to the cover.

With the tip of the bone folder – fold over the little bit that over hangs the corner as shown.

Then adhere the other edge to the board.

There a nice tidy corner!
6. Your finished covers should look like this.

Next cut your other desired sheet of cardstock to size. And adhere the same way.
This is what the covers look like when the above steps are completed.

That is the outside cover and inside of the cover shown.
7. cut plain cardstock to the size of the inside to cover the rest of the cardboard. Making sure the glue is all the way to the edge.

8. Now for the spine. Cut a piece of cardstock the height of the cover and keep it 12″ long.

9. put your scoring blade in your trimmer and start scoring every 1/2 inch Fliping the cardstock over each score mark. Making sure its straight and all the way to the end.

10. Now accordian fold along all your score marks.

11. lay your accordian folded spine on the table like this with the two ends pointing up.

12. Glue the spine end to the finished covers.

13. Now your basic cover is complete!

14. on the inside the spines on the left side of the peak run glue in the middle of your spine. (gee I explained that as clear as mud! hope you get what i mean!) lol

15. Place your greeting card to this glued part and carry on with all your cards. I started with a small card working my way to the biggest one.

16. Now to attach the ribbon to the back of the folder…. I did this with double sided tape.

17. And decorate the cover as you desire and tie up the ribbon.

Congrats!
You have finished!!!
I’d love to see your finished version. Please put a comment and link here so I can see yours.
Next week we are making paperclip embelishments…. Get some felt, plain paper clips from your stationery shop, fabric glue or double sided tape and some sticker gems/pearls. 2 sizes of flower dies for your cuttlebug machine. Small and quick lesson next week!
Shopping: I found these clear stamps at The Warehouse for $4.99! They are designed by Cristina Re for Paper Chic/Grant Achival. Aren’t they awesome! I can’t make stamps for that price! It was the last packet in the shop at Northlands shopping mall!

Did my first online shop here in NZ for Scrapbooking supplies…. at Scrapbook Outlet

Prima Whisper Collection pack: 2 of each 6 12×12 cardstock, 12 flowers and a good length of embroidered lace. the pack does state it has monogram letters in it but I think Prima ran out so put the emboidered lace in it instead? I don’t mind! the lace is better I have letters falling out everywhere! lol Love these papers/embellies! I’m wrapped with the purchase. Ordered on Thursday night (I think) - recieved Monday. I think that is reasonable service.
Layouts:
I also did this layout for the Prima Frugal scrappers contest.

i used prima packaging and left overs for this layout. Fun challenge!

The above layout is of my Disney Princess.
I ended up putting modelling paste (an acrylic medium) on the Heidi grace chipboard pieces.
Added Cloud9 black raindots and Vellum flowers (which were put through the cuttle bug with the dotted embossing folder.
I had heaps of fun grunging out the layout! lol
New Forum!
Oh I have to tell you about Bad Girls! It’s a forum for Scrapbooking Bad Girls! They mix art with scrapbooking. Similar to the Disney Princess layout above… Its a great place to be! Hop on over and try something new with your scrapbooking this year.
Other blog posts:
I also did a post at Fiskars Craft blog…. on some Christmas layouts.
Painting:

Over at Wetcanvas there is a monthly study the masters thread. We are to paint the provided piece and also research it.
This is Picasso’s – The old guitarist
size: A5 (5.83×8.27 inches)
Atelier Acrylics with Modelling compound to thicken the paint up.
on Canvas.
used the following colours:
burnt umber
yellow oxide
ultramarine blue
titanium white
When researching all about it I learnt that Picasso was strapped for money during his blue period. This is probably why he painted over 2 other paintings to paint this one. He probably didn’t have the money to get a canvas. I also learnt that he died a year after I was born. Why do I assume that every very famous Master artist was born and died in the 1800’s?
It was also interersting with the fact that people have tried x-raying and other methods to see the other 2 paintings beneith this one. He obviously didn’t want to keep them or let people see them. I do the same thing over paintings I don’t like. Glad the masters did this too! he he
I have had fun doing this painting and I have a more growing like towards Picassos work because of it.

This dragon fly is also a monthly Wetcanvas project. We are to paint the provided photo referance the way we want to.
size: A5 (5.83×8.27 inches)
Atelier Acrylics with Modelling compound. On Canvas.
No black used…. I mixed a dark brown and a dark blue together to get the black colour. Makes a more natural black and its not so harsh.
Altered items:

This is inspired by Project 52 Blog an off shoot to Bad Girls.
Check out the rest of the close up photos of this project here.

Ink refils for my printer. (magenta)
Plenty of beads, some paper rolled beads from scraps of cardstock.
Cage was a terracotta drum my kids broke just turned upside down.
Twig from my garden.
Material from an old top.
my own clear hearts made out of old clear packaging and stamped with Cristina Re stamp.
And my own colour glimmer spray.
Thanks heaps for looking and have a great day!
Well its Christmas layout time. When we all get out our Christmas scrapbook supplies and start scrapping those cool photos.
This layout is done with pieces from the Cloud9 Paper craft Kit – Christmas Joy.

This sample layout is showing advanced finished layout.
Supplies needed:
Skills learned in this lesson:
step 1:
Choose your supplies and print out a copy of the sketch.
And cut out the flower and as many holly as you need with the Ultra Shape Express from the patterned cardstock in the pack.
Beginners: stickers of holly leaves/berries might help you here to simplify it for you.

Step 2:

Rub your brown stamp pad one way up the cardstock to create a weathered woodish look.
Beginners: You can get hold of brown woodlook papers. If you have something use that or do the above technique.
Step 3:

Both skill levels: Cut a 8.5cm x 15cm (3 1/2″ x 6″) piece from the light blue cardstock.
And ink the sides with the brown stamp pad.
Step4:

Both skill levels: Stick your Christmas centiment on your light blue cardstock and Stamp the journalling lines on the top.
Step 4:

Draw in pencil a large capital P and cut it out with your craft knife.
Beginners: try this or use a ready made large letter for your page.
Step 6:

Place all your current pieces on your page. Stick down the Journalling spot and your photos into place. Keep your letter P and flowers loose for now. Get out your letter stickers and put the word “xmas” where indicated on the photo lining it up to the letter.
Begninners: try this or make it straight on top of the letter P.
Step 7:

Take the top layer off the “P” to expose the corrugated look and ink it with your green ink pad.
Beginners: skip this part if you want to keep it simple.
Step 8:

Both skill levels: now stick your letter P ad the rest of your letters in place with the year on top of your main title.
step 9:

Both skill levels: Stick down your large flower on the top left hand corner of your page. Cut it using the edge of your paper as a guide where to cut.
Step 10:

Both skill levels: repeat with the smaller flower you cut at the start.
Step 11:

Using the foam dots/squares/dimensionals put some leaves higher than others. The others are just stuck flat on the page. Arrange them around your photos.
Beginners: Just stick your holly stickers in place around your photos.
One step further? (for intermediate/advanced levels)
try adding dimensional clear glues to the holly berries for extra dimension
or
add red glitter glue to the berries for a little sparkle.
or
add some red rain dots from Cloud9 for a little dimension.
You are finished!
I’d love to see your work! Post a link in your comment so I can see it.
Have fun!!!
Gee 2 days and no posting! Don’t worry I’ve been creating!!!

Hair 12×12 layout using odd papers covering chipboard letters/flowers from odd stuff in my stash. Touched off with a little Glitter Glue.

I love it. Very simple yet elegant. Its for my daughters room – so in the morning she can point to what hair style she wants.

This is my latest pencil drawing from a challenge on Wetcanvas. I’m getting better at shading but prospective needs a bit of work.

My lastest lino cut “stamp” Prince Froggy. Another challenge from the Wetcanvas forum…. lol yes I’m addicted to arty challenges.

My kindy Glitz holder…. A revamped notice board I did before. Nothing like re-altering what you already have for a new purpose. They are upside down so I can use them without trying to get the glitter to the top. Just faster to work this way.

Thank you card. It was a lesson over at Just Buggin
Stamped background used cloud9 stamps.

Belive it or not this is a toilet roll! This cute card/gift card holder card is a super easy project to do!

Hop on over to http://christmascardsallyearround.blogspot.com/ for the tutorial posted on Jan 13th.
I used cuttlebug die cuts – butterfly and flower. Some organisa ribbon from a Christmas pressie, and the cardstock is from Prima.
last but not least I have gone shopping!
Ok so its nothing much but some Lino and a lino cutting knife handle and blade number 1 – OOOOH so what!!???? Well this is going to help me make some more lino stamps! yeeee haaa!

I was given an award for my blog today from Mary.
