New creations

August 31, 2009

Well first things first….
My hubby has finished his Nursing Degree and passed State Finals which means he is now a registered nurse. And he started work today! yeee ha!
That has been 3 and half years of study, living on student allowance (which is less than the benefit here in NZ even for a family) which has really made it hard. But we a finally through it. And eagerly waiting for the first pay packet.

We will also be shifting. Which means that I’ll be taking you my readers on a journey of packing up my scrap stuff and then unpacking it into my new “spot” yeap it has to be yet another “spot” as we cannot afford a 4 bedroom place only a 3 bedroom to rent. Its ok we will make do. I just hope it will have better lighting than the spot I have now! lol

Now for the bad news….
I was going to have this week for the tutorial the making of my swirl card with my swirl mask. But it seams that the kids have deleted very important files and I’ve lost all footage – all the editing which had almost finished. It cannot be recovered. (to tell the truth I am hopping mad but cannot do a thing about it). So there might not be a tutorial this week. Sorry about that.

Now for the creations….
I have been involved with the Fiskateers online crop again.
This is what I made:
keyring
I made a keyring decoration out of epoxy square stickers back to back and inbetween them is sandwiched some Heidi Grace paper.
I punched the holes with my fiskars 1/8 punch and tied them together with some silver cord. Put it on a ball chain and done!

That is only one of the many challenges that were going up. I didn’t have the time this weekend to do all the challenges. But it was certainly fun having a look seeing what others had done.

On another note I have finished my latest hand carved rubber stamp.
A tractor

TractorStamp
It was a RAK for my 200th friend on Facebook. Louise!!!
Its small enough to use on a card and big enough that it won’t get lost on a 12×12 layout.

top1
Just today I had finished fixing my top.
the above top was once long sleeved and the under arm was stained with deodorant.
So I cut the stain out. Sewed the sleeves back on – short of course and now I have a summer top that looks like new! BINGO!

I have also been shopping:
My Local Scrapbook Shop has closed its doors. It had an auction to get rid off the remaining stock in the shop on the last day. I missed out on alot of the stuff I really really wanted as I only had a budget of $30 and yes I actually did stick to it this time.
But I did get these:
embossingfolders

3 cuttlebug embossing folders for $29. Retail value was at $38.99 so I did get a discount. ;)

my latest card with one of them looks like this…
shakercardOwl
I did all the colouring with chalks.

Hey last week I got something in the mail…. An oldy but a goodie….
Fiskars stamp brayer with the large ink pads! Thanks Lynn!
brayerpads
The stamp in the packet is the “festive” stamp roller which I bought at a local stamping shop for $12. Original price $25NZD!! They had on them in the shop $15 each but I knocked them down a few more dollars. They had been sitting in the shop for a very very long time. Love bargaining. See you still can do it in New Zealand. Just have to be megga cheeky. ;)

so watch out for projects I’m going to do with these goodies.

Next is what I got today:
IntheMail
oh these goodies are just awesome! Thanks Donna!
They are all so wonderful and can use them all…. eventually.
***shhh!!! I have kept some stuff aside for a RAK on THIS blog in a few months…. products not pictured**** – you heard it FIRST!!!

Now look at my embellishment draw…..
embellieDraw
Thats right I have no-where to put my embellishments anymore….
Looks like I’m going to have to:
a: buy more draws
b: put any new ones in the future somewhere else – oh but where?
c: do heaps of scrapping to get the pile down. lol

Oh which to chooooose!

I have also got a commission job:
dressing these little fellows in graduation outfits for two asian friends that have graduated nursing degrees.
bears
I’ll keep you posted about how it goes.

I will have to get some photos developed soon and start doing some scrapbook pages.

Well that was a long post. I hope you have enjoyed it.

Take care….

Rom_8:21
that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.

Sunday focus

August 30, 2009

Lets see if I can put up a Sunday verse for people every Sunday.
I’m not a preacher. I’m a Christian and want to share my faith journey with you. These are from sheets we get at church.

If you don’t like this. Don’t read Sunday posts. Simple. I’m not out to offend. Its your choice. ;)

scripture1

  • The idea is to read the bible – This case Hebrews 4
  • meditate – think about the verse listed during the day
  • have a prayer focus.

Have a great Sunday.

Ok so I want to win this…

August 22, 2009

Ok I want to win this one…. What scrapbooker in their right mind wouldn’t?

All I have to do is post this awesome picture on my blog and put a link back to Prima’s blog

as much and I’d love to make a layout with these prima picks. I have not been able to buy any new supplies let alone find any of these in New Zealand at present so that is not an option but I don’t have to.

Aren’t these products amazing though? Prima always comes out with beautiful  products and no matter how much some of us cleaver ones mimic them and make similar products they will NEVER be the same and I’d personally prefer to buy them when the money starts rolling in and if I can buy local.

So here I am doing the post so I’m in the draw to win some awesome Prima products.

As they say…. you cannot win if you are not in!

Go on over and check out the DT pages…. they are awesome!!!

Dressup Bird Wings – tutorial

August 19, 2009

Hello todays tutorial is how to make your child’s own bird wings for dress up play….

ethanfly

Take a large piece of material and cut out a circle using your zig zag scissors. (this way you don’t have do do any hems.
I measured from shoulder to knees of my kids first to know the length of the cape…

cutoutshape

poncho

cut out a small hole in the middle using your zig zag scissors. To do this fold your circle in half then in 1/4’s  then snip the corner.
Do it small you can always adjust it later.  Cutting big is not as easy to fix.
At this stage try the cape over your child’s head. Adjust as necessary.

feathers
cut out some simple feather shapes with your zig zag sissors.

sewonfeathers

Start sewing on your feathers as shown.

finishedbirdcape

Keep going and sew on all your feathers.

You are done!

Simple and sweet! Just the way I like it.
If you want to get really fancy make up a beak out of orange card and elastic….. I didn’t do that one though.

Happy sewing!
