My son is having a StarWars birthday theme this year…. He’s turning 6!
I can hardly believe it myself!
WARNING LONG POST!
I started planning….24 days before the event. Usually it takes me months in advance but with a family members death, Christmas and New Year it was just in the too hard basket this year to work so far in advance. But here’s what I did….
Invites:

Rough mock up inside. Later added “may the force be with you”
Decor also had to be planned….

this is for the Death Star – all it needs is a black marker on it and you end up with this…

ok not perfect but that’s ok for a 6 year old and the time span I have.

Gold crepe paper cut into strips will serve as fill ins for my sealing decorations…. Aka slip streams of the space ships?

Yea I was going to draw storm trooper helmets on these balloons but it would take too long and I will be blowing them up 2 hrs before the party… It wouldn’t be possible to do that, get the rest of the place sorted and the party food done. So they will remain blank.
aka weird gas planets!

2 large sheets of silver and 2 large sheets of gold card for stars and spaceships and C3PO activity.
Here is the template for Padme’s ship…

Cut out template from A4 sheet (printer sheet of paper) then draw around it on the back of your silver cardstock including windows.

And once again with no windows but tabs on the outside of the shape. But also moving the ship template over 1/4 of an inch….

It’s important that the bottom of the space ship is smaller than the top.

These are the pieces cut out…

Tape black paper over the windows.

fold not crease the top of the ship.. And fold over the tabs of the bottom ship.

And hot glue to and bottom together. I put the glue on the tabs at the nose of the ship first. Then worked my way around it…

Put fishing string… You know the clear stuff…. Through the window and string it up so you can hang it from the ceiling.
As my son pointed out that template for the space ship can be used as general grievous mask…

just don’t cut out the windows of the ship. What a cool kid! And he’s six!
For C3PO…

Most of him is gold… Neck is silver and one leg is silver with a black belly.

Draw/trace up as many C3PO sets, as much as you need for guests and one sample. DONT FORGET to flip the legs arm and feet over the other side to get opposite limbs or you will end up with two left feet etc. 6 guests are invited to this party so ill need 7 C3PO sets. Now sit I front of the TV for a while and cut out all the pieces. Then get a soft surface – your lounge carpet might do – and score them where needed for the detailing.
Then put all them into separate bags. Make up one as a sample. These pieces are part of one activity…. After all Anakin Skywalker built C3PO… Right? The idea is to get the guests to put C3PO together.

Next……
The simple task of making planets and stars as stringed banners…. As well as Light Sabre handles. Aka handles to hold long balloons.

For the planets choose planet colours like blue, red, orange, brown, green, yellow. Cut out 6 circles per planet, fold and glue to each other putting a string in the middle before you finish the globe.

Light sabre handles….
Get some tubes from the middle of the lunch wrap etc… And cut them to hand width side.
Wrap them with tin foil or foil tape. Put in details and a button and you are done!
Get the guests to put the long balloon into their light sabre handle after they build C3PO. The next step in being a Jedi is to make your own light sabre you see.

Covered with foil and black tape used as markings. Buttons will be added by the guests (padawans)

Ok I think this is a long enough post for now… If I do more ill do another post and link to this one and vice versa.

FANTASTIC projects and plans, Debbie! This is my daughter’s kind of party too! She’s a huge Star Wars fan! She even considered getting married on May 4th so it would be “may the 4th be with you”! haha
Now that would be way cool.
More StarWars goodness coming soon…
The boys in the after school care program where I work were obsessed with star wars and light sabers last year. We rolled large sheets of butchers paper that the children coloured with crayons, then rolled a piece of black paper around at one end or in the centre depending on who they were! I got really good at rolling the paper!
Oh, and the parcel got to me yesterday! Thank you bery much!
Fabulous. Glad you got the package safely.
Rolled paper lightsabers! Brilliant!
