New years resolutions

Yes it is New Years Day here in New Zealand.
Happy New Year!!!!

Well last years resolutions didn’t go so well….

• Prayer - hmmm started off with a his a a roar here but went back to old habbits praying every now and again when I wanted something…. gosh I can be so selfish sometimes! (yes beat myself up time!)
• Read/study and do Gods word- another thing that took off with a hiss and a roar. But didn’t end up happening from half way through the year onwards.
• Paint 12 Acrylic paintings – a common theme here -you guessed it… again took off with a hiss and a raw and I did up till April. So much for a painting a month! lol
• Draw 52 Drawings – another one moment thought I guess here. Did about 4 of them. Not the one a week I was going to do.
• d0 365 word puzzles and read books to excersize brain – ok here I did only 3! so much for brain excersize!
• excersize body and get out in the sun more – I did get out in the sun more! but as for excersize….. lol yeap you guessed it another no go.
• Spend time with my family – yes more time with family
• Do Scrapbooking, sewing and crafting – yes I definitely did! got the blog to prove it!

Now for this years resolutions……

• Prayer
• Read/study and do Gods word
• Spend time with my family
• excersize body and get out in the sun more
• Do Scrapbooking, sewing and crafting

and in that order of priority!

Lets see how I do this year. LOL

Next on the agenda:

Organizing my sons Super Hero Party for his 5th birthday.

• make decorations
• get ingredients for party food
• put together activities
• put together party gift packs

 

Up and coming in the year:

• Carry on with Sketch a fortnight for Fiskars Craft (could be scrapbook, quilt patch, card-making sketches)
• carry on with Fiskars craft DT posts
• Carry on with Creative Paper clay DT commitments
• Organize and plan daughters birthday party for June
• Keep my sanity and don’t get so stressed out this year

 

One more thing!

Its my 40th birthday in July…. hint hint… LOL
If I happen to have a midlife crisis and go nuts this year on my blog don’t blame me!
I love adhesives, white/cream/tan(craft) card-stock 12×12 size please. wink wink! (I can do heaps with those things).

Tim’s 12 tags – tag two

Well this year with Tim Holts is really cool. Yes on to the second tag!

I did however had to make my own patterned paper like Tim used so I got out some base card stock and stamped on the music stamp by kaisercraft in Tis the season collection from last year, in black ink. Next I stamped in large letters the word, Christmas, and heat embossed it in clear. After that all I had to do is add the holly from kaisercraft same collection as above in black ink. Now I had the base card stock tim had. LOL

Here is my tag or rather flag for my banner…

I hand cut out the reindeer out of normal canvas scrap. The tinsel is from the Christmas tree decorations…. Oooops! And the bling are the spare buttons you get when you buy garments that are on the tags. Yes I keep everything!

Tim him self encourages us to use what we have. So I am definitely doing that this year. No buying here.

2011 will have a change of tact

Next year is quickly arriving so with most of my Christmas preps out of the way I have been thinking about the blog and what my plans are for next year.

I have also been thinking about the last year and how much (or lack of it) I’ve been spending time with my family. After all they are important element of my world.

I have also been thinking about my brain, as in my intellect, as most mothers of young children know, after a few years of talking kid level of language you feel kind of out of touch and brain dead. So I’ve decided to do a word puzzle a day. If I have time that is…. either a crossword or a word-find puzzle. If anything it would be a break of my own brain washing into craft stuff. lol

I also want to get back into my painting and drawing. So I’ve re-checked out WetCanvas.com a community of artists from beginner level to very advanced levels of nearly every media you can think of. I am going to do the Monthly Painting challenge and the weekly drawing challenge there.  Can I do 52 drawings in a year and 12 paintings? hmmmm lets see…

I will still do scrapbooking, sewing and crafting. As the need arises so don’t worry there. I have too many tools in that department to ignore it all. lol – and tutorials will come from these I’m sure. Don’t panic. Not giving up here just slowing down.

Then it is my spiritual side. The side of me that gets neglected all too often. And one of the most important. It ties all the mind, body and soul together. So I’m going to get stuck into Gods word this year. Study it, follow it and do it. And Prayer is very important component in every Christians life so I will do that too.

And I really need to get outside more so I need to weed the garden and go for a walk around the block at least 3 times a week!

So to recap:

• Prayer

• Paint 12 Acrylic paintings
• Draw 52 drawings
• do 360 word puzzles and read books to excersize brain
• Excersize body and get out in the sun more
• Spend time with my family

Hmmm so that should be an all rounder. Now to post this up so I’m accountable to you and to print it out so I’m accountable to myself and family.

Next year should be heaps of fun. All the best everyone for your Christmas preparations.

Hi – yes getting back to my things to do list that I’ve bookmarked in my browser.
Confession time here…. I’ve gone through my huge list and reduced it down a bit – I have about 29 projects left to do. So the original number was 90 reduced down to 59. And I’m up to number 30 so that officially makes me half way through these projects.

I have altered a tank top and a polyester scarf into a “short sleeave” style top thanks to Ruffles and Stuff

and here is the detailing…

I did 3 flowers instead of seven like in the original tutorial.

Thanks so much Disney for your tutorial it was fab to have a good top back again that I could wear more comfortably. Its awesome.

Howdy…

#27 – sheer flower – instructions found here
this was made out of sheer fabric – so fun!

#28 – a layout scraplift…. so loved this layout because of all the ripping etc
and it was a perfect place to put the above hand made flower. The original layout is found at the fiskateers gallery done by Ladydoc #2828

And a decorated clear ruler. Instructions found here
I did however have to drill a hole in the ruler with the Fiskars craft drill
and the paper is purposefully ripped as the ruler is broken at the 38cm mark…. lol

Hi all.
Yes there is more to post today. Just didn’t have time before the scheduled post went up….

So here is #21- paper flowers – tutorial found here

#22 – heart bloom – tutorial found here – I put in the center another home made flower.

#23 – a scrap lifted layout – original by Fiskateer Melissa #2756

With this 12×12 layout I stamped with white acrylic paint. Used my new dictionary book printed flowers. It was fun and messy… love that. lol

There you go! three more. And yes I did do some scrapbooking! My goodness I hope you were sitting down for that one. lol

things to do #16 and #17 – pouch/quilt

Quick post today….
number 16 to do was a pleated pouch from skip to my lou

Here in New Zealand we would call that a purse. A pouch here is similar to a pocket.

Number 17 a quilt technique… summer in the park design

Right that is the design. I mucked it up a little but hey its my first time I did strips of fabric instead of squares! It isn’t sewn up yet but it will be soon.

Got to go as I have the kiddos to look after and a student in an online scrapbook lesson in 2 hours.

Things to do #13 and #14 – Card and stationery set

Getting my list done… #13 and #14 of 92 things to do on my bookmarked list.

First is a scrap ribbon card… However I used a digital stamp from Pollycraft

I also decided to do the stationery box and set…. tutorial over at splitcoaststampers

thats closed… it is made of cardstock – wood textured. cool hugh
